The Old Bayshore Highway Streetscape Project builds on years of planning and study to identify opportunities for improving the corridor. As the project moves into design, the City is reviewing previous recommendations, gathering updated information, and engaging the community to help shape the improvements moving forward.
A feasibility study was completed to evaluate potential improvements along the Old Bayshore Highway corridor. The study considered existing conditions, transportation needs, and opportunities to improve safety and mobility for people walking, biking, driving, and using transit.
As part of the feasibility study, three alternatives were evaluated for the corridor. Alternative 2 was selected as the preferred alternative at that stage of planning, providing a starting point for the project's next phase.
The selected alternative will now be reviewed alongside updated field data, existing conditions, community input, and current project requirements as the design moves forward.
The City of Burlingame secured grant funding to advance the design and construction of improvements along Old Bayshore Highway. This funding allows the City to build upon the earlier feasibility work and move the project into the design and community engagement phase.
The project team is currently documenting existing conditions, collecting updated data, and reviewing the previously identified improvements to understand how they will function along the corridor.
This work, together with feedback from businesses, residents, agencies, and other corridor users, will help the team develop and refine design concepts. Those concepts will be shared with the community for additional review and feedback as the project progresses.
